TheFootWear runs the website at thefootwear.shop, where we sell our own line of men’s leather boots and shoes. This page sets out what we learn about you when you browse or buy, what we do with it, and how you can push back. Placing an order or using the site means you accept the practices described here.

What reaches us. To send you a pair of shoes we need a name, a delivery address, a billing address, an email address and a phone number, along with the details of what you ordered. If you write to us about sizing or a warranty claim, we keep that correspondence too, including any photographs you send. Card details are typed into our payment provider’s secure fields at checkout and are handled by them — the full number never lands on our servers. Separately, our site records technical information as you browse: an IP address, browser and device type, which pages you looked at and how you arrived. That happens through cookies and similar tools.

What we do with it. We use your details to take payment, pack and ship the order, keep you updated on where it is, deal with returns and warranty claims, detect fraudulent orders, keep the accounting records the law requires of us, and — only if you have asked for it — send occasional emails about restocks and new styles. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and using it stops those emails without affecting your orders.

Who else sees it. Your information is never sold or rented. It is shared only with the companies that make the store work: our payment provider, the carriers who deliver your parcel, our email and hosting providers, and our accountants. Each receives the minimum they need. We will also hand over information where a court, tax authority or law enforcement agency legally requires it, or where it is necessary to defend our rights.

Cookies. Cookies keep your cart intact between pages, remember choices such as light or dark display, and show us which pages are actually being read. Your browser settings let you refuse or delete them, though the cart may misbehave if you do.

Keeping it and getting rid of it. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, while acknowledging that nothing sent across the internet is perfectly secure. Order records are held for as long as tax and accounting rules require; enquiry correspondence is cleared out once it is no longer useful.

Your say. Depending on where you live — California residents in particular have specific statutory rights — you can ask to see the information we hold, have it corrected or erased, or object to particular uses. Write to us at the address below and we will answer inside the period the law allows, free of charge.

Children. This shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
